Presentation of the photographer

Manel Clemente (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 1966) enjoys both the photographic practice and teaching. He lives in La Garriga, a village close to Barcelona.
He works as a teacher of Photography and Image Theory at the institutions  Escola d'Art i Superior de Disseny Pau Gargallo de Badalona (Barcelona) and ESDAP Catalunya campus  Pau Gargallo. He is also the ERASMUS coordinator of these two institutions.
He has shown his work in different galleries and museums. An UPIFC member, his photos have been published in several magazines and he has collaborated regularly with several publishing houses in Barcelona.
In recent years, however, he has left the applied photography to devote himself to personal photographic projects.
Among the other projects he has also been working on recently we can highlight On sale, a interpretation of consumer society, Ghost towns, a project related to the Spanish housing bubble, Forgotten ruins, a selection of abandoned places around Barcelona, Dark  tourism?, a selection of tourist spots historically associated with death and tragedy and World Souvenir.
At the moment (from 2018) he is working on a new project related to the recovering of historical memory in Spain: for the Spain they believed to be better.
At the moment (2020) he is following a Phd programme about Society and Culture: History, Anthropology, Arts, Heritage and Cultural Management at the UB / Universitat de Barcelona. His proposal of PHD Thesis,  directed by Phd Xavier Roigé,  is about heritage commemorating Spanish Civil War in Catalunya.
In parallel, he is working in a project about individual memory related to the Spanish Civil War collecting video interviews of the last witnesses of the Civil War: ex-combatants, exiles and victims.
