The «Burgu i Idealit” Museum was opened in Prishtina on July 12 2022. According to the official website of Kosovadiplo365 «this museum, undergoing construction since August 2020, holds immense historical importance as it was once a pre-trial detention center during Serbian rule, where thousands of Albanian detainees endured unimaginable hardship. It has since been transformed into a museum showcasing a compelling collection of images, films, and artifacts belonging to former prisoners, providing a detailed depiction of their experiences within these prison walls. The Ministry of Culture played a vital role in establishing the museum, acquiring essential materials from the Association of Political Prisoners, including a comprehensive list of over 9,000 former prisoners dating back to 1945.
