for the Spain they believed to be better: in Girona
According to the Democratic Memorial Memory Bank / Banc de Memòria Democrática del Memorial Democràtic these preserved francoist symbols consist of “a set of 5 tombstones and a cross in commemoration of the "Caídos por la patria ". There are 4 hanging ones on the wall and a fifth one on the floor, to the left of the cross. This ensemble is located just at the entrance of Girona Cemetery, entering to the left. It is a dignification for 30 people from 126 who have been counted that died in the Republican rearguard in Girona during the war. Those who are hanging on the wall are lists of people, who were connected to the institution "Caballeros de España ". The tombstone on the floor has a Francoist shield and a legend of difficult reading relative to the murders after the coup d'état in the Republican rearguard in Girona. The cross also refers to the fallen for the Francoist cause.” These photos were taken in March 2020 and show some views of these remaining francoist symbols.
