for the Spain they believed to be better: in Coll de Belitres
The 4th Division of Navarre was a unit of the Francoist Army that fought in the Spanish Civil War, during which it played a relevant role. Commanded by General Camilo Alonso Vega, the unit came to take part in some of the main battles of the war, such as Teruel, Alfambra, Aragón, Ebro and Cataluña.
In Coll de Belitres (Portbou) there is a monolith memorial monument to the 4th Division of Navarre members who died in the Spanish Civil War.
There is a similar monolith memorial monument to the 4th Division of Navarre in Prat de Comte (Terra Alta).
These photos were taken in August 2019 and show some images of the monument in Coll de Belitres. A few meters from this monument there is an other one built by the Memorial Democràtic which offers information about the almost half a million people who had to flee to France between late January and early February 1939 because of Franco's victory.
