Statue of Ibrahim Rugova in the cathedral courtyard
According to the "Gazetë online Insajderi" on Thursday 14 January 2021 «The Kosovo Diocese placed the statue of former president Ibrahim Rugova in the courtyard of the "Saint Mother Teresa" cathedral in Pristina, without the permission of the municipality. This came after the Diocese abandoned the installation of the statue of Anton Çetta, which his family opposed. The Deputy Mayor of Pristina, Selim Pacolli, said that the municipality has not granted permission for the installation of the Rugova statue, nor has one been requested. His statue is made by sculptor Fatmir Hoxha» According to Elvira Berisha (KOHA.net) «family members, religious clergy and public figures applauded when the Bishop of Kosovo Dodë Gjergji, Mendim Rugova and Anton Quni, Minister of Defense removed the red veil and the work of the sculptor Fatmir Hoxha was revealed. But not everyone agrees that with this action the historic president's work has been honored. In social networks, the comments about the installation of the statue of Rugova have been different. Some have supported and some others have harshly criticized this action.» These photos were taken in July 2025.
