In Huesca: the former Cemetery of the Martyrs
The former Cemetery of the Martyrs, located in what is now the Martyrs of Liberty Park in Huesca, served as the city's first cemetery outside the city walls between 1832 and 1846. Among the cemetery's monuments, the 19th-century Republican Mausoleum stands out. It is a funerary monument crowned by a pinnacle that pays homage to Manuel Abad and the republicans executed after the 1848 uprising. During the Civil War, the cemetery was used as a mass grave and today houses a memorial in honor of the Republican victims of repression. These photos were taken in March 2026 and show a selection of views of the Cemetery of the Martyrs.
