in Montreal: The Military Cemetery St. Helen’s Island
The Military Cemetery St. Helen’s Island is an English military cemetery dating from the 19th century and located in Île Sainte-Hélène in Montreal, near the fort. It was restored in the 1930s. The names of 57 NCOs / non-commissioned officers and soldiers who are buried there are inscribed on bronze commemorative plaques; these plaques stolen by vandals, then found in a scrap yard by Brigadier-General Richard Genin, were reinstalled on the monument in 1997. These photos were taken in August 2022.
