Memorial site to J.Podnieks, A.Slapiņš and G.Zvaigzne

According to the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia «the Memorial site to the documentary filmmaker Juris Podnieks and to his film cameramen Andris Slapiņš and Gvido Zvaigzne, who were killed during the barricade days, is in the building wich housed the working premises of the Juris Podnieks Studio. The studio began as an independent entity in 1989, working on topical subjects under the direction of the talented Latvian documentary filmmaker Juris Podnieks. On 20 January 1991, cameramen Andris Slapiņš and Gvido Zvaigzne from Podnieks’ film crew left this house for their last filming on Bastejkalns. The memorial dedicatd to them was unveiled in 1994. A memorial plaque to Juris Podnieks was unveiled in 2020.» These photos were taken in May 2024.
