Perpignan war memorial. Gustave Violet, 1924
Located near the Promenade des Platanes (allée Maillol), this imposing monument is a beautiful tribute to the soldiers who died during the Great War (World War I 1914-1918). Designed by the architect, sculptor and writer Gustave Violet, as an altarpiece, it was inaugurated in 1924 and rehabilitated in 2017. Acording to the Site managed by the city of Perpignan «the Perpignan war memorial is the most imposing of Gustave Violet's thirteen works. Its central element is over 11 meters high and 7.6 meters wide. A poignant tribute to his fallen comrades from the département, this monument conveys a sublime message of peace and love to this Catalan land.» These photos were taken in February 2025.
