Recreation of the Battle of the Ebro in Fayón
The Battle of the Ebro was the largest and longest battle of the Spanish Civil War. It took place between July and November 1938, with the fighting concentrated mainly in two areas of the lower course of the Ebro River, the Terra Alta region of Catalonia and the area near Fayón (Faió) in the lower Matarraña, in the Lower Eastern Aragon. Commemorating its 85th anniversary, the bloody Battle of the Ebro was revived in Fayón on Saturday 29th July 2023 for the fifteenth time after starting with its recreation in 2007. Nearly 300 recreationists from all corners of the country participated in the recreation of the offensive of the republican side to the national side at midnight on 25th July 1938. The nationals managed to rearm and put an end to the intentions of the opposing side. It was the last chapter of this battle within the Aragonese territory. It took 13 days in the middle of July and with very limited forces and resources. These photos were taken on 29th July 2023 and show a selection of images of the recreation.
