




According to the official website of Historica.fandom.com «Hasan Prishtina (1873- 1933) was Prime Minister of Albania from 7 to 12 December 1921, succeeding Qazim Koculi and preceding Idhomene Kosturi. Hasan Berisha was born in Vicitirin, Ottoman Kosovo in 1873. He practiced law in Istanbul and supported the Young Turk revolution of 1908; that same year, he was elected to the Ottoman Parliament as a member of the CUP. He changed his last name to Prishtina in 1908 in honor of his constituency, and he opposed the use of force to suppress Albanian nationalism. Prishtina joined the Freedom and Accord Party in 1911, and, that same year, he was recruited into Ismail Qemali's Albanian revolution, leading a nationalist uprising in Kosovo in 1912. He was imprisoned by Serbia during the First Balkan War, and he served as Agriculture Minister of Albania in 1913, Postal Minister in 1914, and commanded Austro-Hungarian volunteers during World War I. He opposed the formation of Yugoslavia, which came to rule over Kosovo, and he took part in a short-lived coup in Albania in 1921 before Ahmet Zogu restored order. Prishtina coordinated nationalist insurrections in Kosovo, and he briefly returned to Tirana during the June Revolution of 1924 before going into exile in Thessaloniki, Greece. He was assassinated by a Yugoslav agent at a cafe in Thessaloniki in 1933.» The University of Prishtina is named after Hasan Prishtina and a statue of him is placed at the garden of the rectorate.
