The Monument Eternal Flame in Yerevan
The monument Eternal Flame, designed by architect Eduard Sarapyan and artist Valentin Podpomogov, is a monument inaugurated in 1960 in Yerevan in honor of the fighters who died for the establishment of Soviet rule in Armenia. According to the website Visit Yerevan «the monument is located in Yerevan’s 2750th Anniversary Park (formerly city boulevard, Stepan Shahumyan Park) connecting Republic Square and Stepan Shahumyan Square, between the fountains. Built on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Sovietization of Armenia. On a three-step pedestal stand 5-meter-high pillars that join at the top with a wide copper ring, on which is written in embossed letters: «Eternal glory to the fighters who fell in the struggle for Soviet power». In the center of the pillars is placed a bowl with an eternal flame. The monument is distinguished by its stylistic conciseness. The material is gray, finely cut granite. It is the first monument with an eternal flame in Armenia. These photos were taken in August 2015 and show some views of the monument Eternal Flame.
